Ink roll fingerprinting is the traditional method of capturing fingerprints using ink and a fingerprint card. A trained technician rolls each finger across an ink pad, then carefully presses it onto an official fingerprint card to produce a clear, accurate print.
Unlike digital or live-scan methods, ink roll fingerprinting is still widely required by many federal, state, and local agencies — including the FBI, USCIS, state licensing boards, and court systems. It remains the gold standard for many official processes.
